IN THE WORDS OF THE POINTER SISTERS: I’M SO EXCITED AND I JUST CAN’T HIDE IT.

The words ‘fashion week’ create a cacophony of mixed reactions in my cluttered little brain twice a year: What if the logo letters fall off of the stage again? Can we sit Hilary Alexander next to Paula Abdul in the front row? If I try to sneak into the Couture Council luncheon will I get arrested? But, at the end of the day, despite my constant thoughts of Adderall washed swiftly down my throat with a gin cocktail, I’m always as excited as a hoarder in a dollar store each time fashion week rolls around.

Here’s a little run down of what I’m particularly jonesing for during the Spring/Summer 2010 collections.

  1. Erin Wasson X RVCA. Model-turned-designer is almost as reviled a term in the fashion world as model-turned-actress, but Erin Wasson is the exception. Erin may be one of the most gorgeous faces in the biz (and the Maybelline campaign girl) but she also quietly styled Alexander Wang’s runway shows long before sixteen-year-old girls in Paramus were clamoring for his cotton tanks tops, if you know what I’m sayin’. Erin makes a bold move this September by showing her newest collection for RVCA —the cool kid skater/surfer line—in the main tents at Bryant Park this year. I think she’s going to kick it out of the park—pun intended, darlings.
  2. Phi S/S 10 Runway Presentation. Erin Wasson, Vanessa Traina, Natasha Poly, and Lauren Santo Domingo don’t mess around when it comes to la mode. And all four wore Phi to the Met Gala last spring. HUGE. Designed by the talented Andreas Melbostad (an Alber Elbaz protégée with stints at Yves Saint Laurent and Calvin Klein under his belt), Phi's Spring/Summer presentation will hopefully leave us breathless as per usual.
  3. Fashion’s Night Out—When I say that I’m excited for something, sometimes it means I’m excited to see how horrifying a spectacle something can be. This is the case with Mama Wintour’s baby, Fashion’s Night Out. For example, one deliciously odd pairing involves Rosie O’Donnell reading from Nora and Delia Ephron’s new play, “Love, Loss, and What I Wore,” at the Giorgio Armani store. But even my jaded fashion-obsessed heart is stoked to see Jessica Stam work the register at Rag & Bone, Mary-Kate and Ashley bartending at Barneys and Sienna and Savannah hosting little Siennabees at Intermix. (By the by, just caught the lovely Sienna in “The Edge of Love” and “The Mysteries of Pittsburgh” this weekend and she is a revelation. SEE THEM BOTH.)
