MY CHICKEN SCRATCH AS A NEW FONT? What Will They Think of Next?

So, guess what? Now you can have your personal handwriting converted into a font. That you can use. To fool the world!!!! Can you hear a manical cackle? Anyway. Of course this is now available. Of course this is a great idea. Of course I can't use it, because my handwriting is not worth translation, though I did make extra money years ago during the broke years doing calligraphy for wedding invitations.

So, how do I feel about this new iteration in "our world needs to go faster so here's a new solution for you." Great. Why not. Just another step in the direction of personal branding. We certainly don't have enough time in our busy day to slow down and hand write our own notes. Sigh. Can you hear the sarcasm? That's the sound of a lady with a lot on her plate that wants MORE TIME to do the simple things I actually like doing, like writing notes to people I love in a crappy but well meaning hand.

FENG SHUI YOUR WEBSITE - For Spring?

There is a trend happening now that suggests you Feng Shui your website for the season. Google it, the trend is there. Interestingly, at least to me, anyway, we are in the process of a site redesign, not for Brand Building but for my other company 24/Savvy. I liked our site, but according to both my amazing SVP and business partner it needed an overhaul. It wasn't intuitive enough; it looked too much like a blog. Just check out CNN's site, they said, see the difference? Of course, it's CNN and we're a lifestyle platform, not a news site. BUT, they think we're newsy too. Ok, off topic.

Today with all the tools we have available to us, doing a site redesign just because it's spring is not an impossibility, it's a probability. But Feng Shui your site? I think it's best to get a designer who knows how to make sure your site is more friendly to those souls who you most want to reach. Not sure positioning things the Feng Shui way is worth the effort, I've never believed in Feng Shui. But what I do believe is that shaking things up a bit can yield some really cool results. And with how "easy" it is to make changes I say go for it!

DO YOU CARE IF YOUR CLOTHING IS ECO-FRIENDLY?

Well, that depends, doesn't it? The green wave is in full force and its popularity is creating a volume game. That's where it's at - volume. If you want to make a change you can start small, the grass roots level is excellent, but you have to grow. Because to change things you need mass volume. So, do I care if my clothes are eco-friendly, yes! But am I going to go out of my way to only purchase eco-friendly clothing? Probably not, unfortunately.

One of the BIGGEST perpetrators of our potential environmental demise is the cotton crop - it saps water from the world in remarkable amounts. And we all know, or should know, how scarce water is becoming. At least the kind you can safely drink.

To make a difference we would ALL have to start ONLY buying eco-friendly clothes. The demand in volume would be a game changer. First place to start, in my opinion, is with cotton items. If we only purchased items that came from sustainable farms AND factories that would create a massive shift. But that's not so easy to do. Chicken or the egg, wait for the good stuff to become readily available? Or, demand it now and forfeit ease in the process. I know what my heart says. I wish I could always follow my heart.
