Everybody Dance Now
In our line of work, we are always looking for, predicting and trying to divine what the next big trend or cultural phenomenon will be. Why? Because usually this means an opportunity to tie our clients and their fabulous products to said trend or phenomenon in the hopes of a sales spike when America inevitably flips its lid for the next big thing.
Which brings me to the upcoming Rob Marshall musical extravaganza, “Nine,” set to change our lives in December. Based on Federico Fellini's classic film, “8 ½,” there are a few obvious reasons why this movie will dominate your holiday dinnertime conversation and possibly influence what dress you purchase for your New Year’s Eve party.
First, it stars every hot actress ever: Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson, Marion Cotillard (L-O-V-E), Fergie, Sophia Loren and Judi Dench. Second, it’s a musical so that means lots of bedazzled, sparkly costumes cut up to there. Third, it’s about sex, love and scandal—America’s favorite. Fourth, Daniel Day-Lewis is in it. And last, Vogue’s November cover is a doublewide pull out of all the dazzlingly beautiful female stars of the film (see above).
Trust. “Nine” will be the hottest thing next to Santa this holiday. All together now, “Jazz hands!”
